How do I restore WhatsApp chats from Google Drive Backup on an iPhone? There are two ways to go about this: One way is to use the computer to restore WhatsApp chats from Google Drive Backup; the other way is to restore WhatsApp chats from Google Drive Backup using your iPhone (or iPad). Read on to find out how! How to restore WhatsApp chats from Google Drive Backup on an iPhone

Step 1: Download Google Drive and install

The first step is easy. Download and install Google Drive for iPhone. The app is free, so you have nothing to lose by trying it out.

Step 2: Launch it, authorize and log in

After you’ve downloaded it, launch WhatsApp and tap Authorize (you may need to enter your PIN or password). After that, you should be asked if you want to create a new account or use a previous one. If you are not prompted with these options, open WhatsApp in settings, tap WhatsApp Web and make sure Web Account is turned on. Once that is done, just follow these steps

Step 3: Find the file with the backup of your chats and copy it

When you get your backup in Dropbox, go to your Google Drive. You should see a folder labeled as ‘WhatsApp Chat’. Right click it and select copy (press command+c). Go back to Dropbox, click into your ‘WhatsApp backup’ folder, right click and select paste (press command+v). This is important because if you don’t do that all your chats will be duplicated.

Step 4: Go to Settings > General > Date & Time > Set Automatically and set

12-hour AM/PM, Change automatically, Time zone: Automatic; These settings will ensure that your iPhone continues to update its clock with your time zone even when you travel. If you’re changing time zones often, consider using a world clock app instead. You can also change your time format if you prefer AM/PM over 24-hour time.

Step 5: Restart your phone

As a last resort, you can always try restarting your phone. Go into Settings and then General > Reset. Then tap Erase All Content and Settings and enter your passcode if prompted. This process will delete everything off of your phone’s internal storage—including any messages or chat history—so make sure you have them backed up elsewhere before proceeding.

Step 6: Sync your WhatsApp account with your device.

Since you have already backed up your WhatsApp contacts in Google Drive, all you need to do is sync them with your device. Head over to Settings > WhatsApp Account > Chats and toggle on Chat History. This will automatically sync your chat history from your computer (or any other iOS device) with your smartphone. If everything has gone according to plan, you should be able to see all of those messages appear in a new chat thread under Chats. Easy as pie!

Step 9: Choose Restore Chats…

Tap Restore Chats. You can then choose which backup you want to import your messages into, and whether you want them in a new chat or merged with your existing chats.

Step 10 : A pop-up window will open allowing you to select a backup file

There will be a progress bar that shows how far along in restoring your backup file is and once completed, a pop-up window will ask you if you want to use your newly restored data or keep what is currently stored on your device.
