It’s hard to imagine anyone else in the role of Míriel, queen regent of Númenor and star of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, a movie by Weta Workshop and WingNut Films, both production companies founded by New Zealand filmmaker Peter Jackson. Míriel wears many hats in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. Cynthia Addai-Robinson Brings Míriel to Life in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power

Who Is Cynthia Addai-Robinson

Born on the British Virgin Islands, Cynthia Addai-Robinson is an American actress and model. Addai-Robinson has starred as Míriel, the queen regent of Númenor, a character in director Peter Jackson’s adaptation of The Lord of the Rings. This isn’t her first foray into fantasy films though; she starred in Magic City and the TV series Defiance.

About Cynthia

Fans of the Tolkien universe are going to be blown away by the second installment of The Lord of the Rings trilogy. This epic series has one helluva prequel. Cynthia Addai-Robinson has done a stellar job with Míriel, an Elven Queen who ruled Númenor, an island kingdom ruled by Men descended from Elrond’s half-Elven brother Elros.

What is your favorite part about playing this character?

My favorite part about playing Míriel is how much strength and patience she has. We, as the audience, see her grow from a queen regent who constantly accepts being in the shadow of a man, who has had everything handed to him on a platter, into someone who changes the fate of her people with tremendous power. She goes through this incredible transformation over the course of just 12 hours!

Tell us about her character. (Give some background information on who she is.)

Míriel is the queen regent of Númenor, an island kingdom ruled by Men descended from Elrond’s half-Elven brother Elros. She is gentle and a lover of peace, but when it became clear that Sauron would destroy their kingdom she went against her husband King Tar-Míriel’s wishes and stole one of the magical Rings from Sauron so that they could have power enough to defend themselves.

What are you excited about with this new series?

I’m excited to see Cynthia addai-robinson portraying the role of a queen regent, and what challenges she’ll face being the wife and mother. She has recently been added to The Rings of Power series (based on J.R.R Tolkien’s novel, The Lord of the Rings) as Míriel: Queen Regent of Númenor, an island kingdom ruled by Men descended from Elrond’s half-Elven brother Elros.

Proud Queen Míriel is voiced by Cynthia Addai-Robinson, and I’m just as thrilled as you are to see this powerful role brought to life. In J.R.R. Tolkien’s original story, she is a very mysterious figure who falls in love with the Ñoldorin elf Anarion and risks everything for their forbidden relationship. As queen regent of Numenor, her legacy is one of tragedy. She gives up her immortality and gives birth to children that eventually lead to the downfall of her island kingdom.

If you could ask Tolkien one question about your character or this series what would it be?

I’m not sure what Tolkien would say about my character, but I know for sure he wanted there to be a Queen Regent on Númenor and that it was time for us all to have more women leaders. I would ask him how I could make her more complex while maintaining her strength and grace, as well as what her most difficult decision was and how she handled it.

Who do you think your character looks up to?

Míriel’s life is set on a course for tragedy when she learns that her husband and king, Tar-Aldarion, has taken an Elven bride. She then gives birth to twins who are more Elf than Man.

Can you tell us about filming for season two?

We asked Cynthia about filming for season two and what it was like playing a queen regent for one of the great races from Tolkien’s world. She replied, There are quite a few queens, we’ve seen Tar-Miriel and Galadriel. I’m Míriel.

How does it feel knowing that people all over will be able to see this soon?

It is exciting and nerve wracking at the same time. I’ve never been as invested in a project that has taken up so much of my life and it will be cool to see how people react. Watching something you have been involved with come to life always puts you on edge, wondering what people are going to think, what they are going to say or if they like it.

Do you have any other projects you’re working on right now?

Currently I am working on my major motion picture debut, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, which was directed by Phillipa Boyens and written by myself, Sarah Cornwell and John Moran. In this high fantasy epic adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s story about an ancient world torn apart by evil power, Míriel is queen regent at a time when her people are descending into an age of darkness.

How did Cynthia Addai-Robinson feel about playing Queen Regent Míriel?

I was excited about playing such a pivotal character, who is essentially the catalyst for all that happens in Tolkien’s classic trilogy, she said. We were really given a rich, three-dimensional character that we could sink our teeth into and make her come alive. I hope Tolkien fans will enjoy it as much as I did. Míriel gets high praise from Cynthia Addai-Robinson for giving an opportunity to take on a part she says could have been played by someone else.

What is Cynthia Addai-Robinson famous for?

In 2017, Cynthia Addai-Robinson is set to appear in two major roles. She has a regular role on Fox’s critically acclaimed thriller Rosewood and will portray Míriel, queen regent of Númenor, an island kingdom ruled by Men descended from Elrond’s half-Elven brother Elros. Míriel’s life changes when her husband King Tar-Meneldur (Lars Mikkelsen) becomes incapacitated following a stroke..

Míriel takes over as ruler until her son is old enough to inherit the throne.

How old is Cynthia Addai Robinson?

I had an opportunity to speak with Cynthia Addai-Robinson, who plays Queen Míriel, ruler of Númenor, in the upcoming film The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. I was born on September 17th and I turn 34 this year, she says. I grew up mostly outside Boston. Cynthia also knows a thing or two about queens.

How tall is Cynthia Addai-Robinson?

It turns out that Cynthia Addai-Robinson is quite tall, standing at six feet and four inches! Not only that, but she was also born into a family of basketball players and is a proud UNLV Rebels fan. With her impressive height and passion for both basketball and acting, it’s no wonder she was cast as Míriel. Míriel is a queen regent who rules Númenor with Sauron, and a survivor of the island’s destruction.
