In the Marvel Universe, there are many superheroes who have superpowers that are relatively easy to understand and predict, such as Spider-Man’s ability to shoot webs out of his wrists and Captain America’s superhuman strength. Other heroes, like the Inhumans, have abilities that are more difficult to wrap your head around at first glance, but ultimately make sense upon further inspection. These are known as secondary mutations or acquired powers, and they allow superheroes to develop new abilities depending on the situation at hand. As it turns out, Ms. Marvel has just such an ability in the Marvel Universe! The Marvels: Kamala Khan a New Mutant Hero

Who Is Iman Vellani

Iman Vellani is a Canadian actress who is set to play the role of Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel in the upcoming Disney+ series, Ms. Marvel. Vellani was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario and has a background in both acting and dance. She has appeared in a number of short films and stage productions, and is excited to be making her debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I think what’s so powerful about this show is that it’s so relatable, she said. Especially for me as a woman and an actor of color, this show speaks to me.

Vellani will also be portraying Danvers in flashback scenes when audiences first meet Kamala Khan at age six.

It’s really interesting because you’re playing this grown woman but you’re having all these flashbacks when you were younger, which we never really get to see that part, she said. It was such an emotional thing for me because I felt like my childhood self had just come back into my life.

Kamala’s success would not have been possible without her family and friends from Jersey City who support her through everything she does. One such person is Bruno Carrelli, an immigrant from Venezuela whose father has taken him under his wing since his arrival two years ago. Bruno quickly became best friends with Kamala after she defended him from bullies one day when he was trying to buy food for lunch.

she is not particularly wealthy or intelligent. Rather, what sets her apart is that unlike many superheroes, she comes from an average background; meaning that being a hero was never something expected of her. Her story follows Carol Danvers’s origin story closely but with some modernized tweaks; for example, her mother’s job was instead that of a taxi driver.

Iman Vellani shared how excited she was about joining the Disney+ family and working on this project which celebrates diversity. I am so excited to play this character, said Iman.

Iman Vellani is set to play Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, in the upcoming Disney+ series. The character is a teenage Muslim girl from Jersey City who discovers she has superpowers. After being inspired by Captain Marvel, she takes on the mantle of Ms. Marvel. Kamala can stretch her body, grow and shrink, and create hard light constructs. She is also a skilled hand-to-hand combatant. In comic books, she was given a bangle by her idol Carol Danvers that could turn into any weapon.
