It’s frustrating to watch an entire YouTube video and still have to sit through the same ad you saw at the beginning of the video, isn’t it? But don’t worry; there are some things you can do about it! In this article, we take a look at why video ads are so pervasive on YouTube and how you can get rid of them entirely or just make them less annoying by putting them in front of your favorite videos. YouTube VideoAds: How to Get Rid of Them

Enable Annotations

This solution is a perfect way to watch YouTube videos without the dreaded and pesky ads. By enabling annotations, you will get the ability to minimize or close out of an ad after it’s finished playing. So whether you’re at home on your TV, on your computer or even on your smartphone, you can get rid of those pesky ads. The only downside is that if you want to read what others are saying about the video while viewing it, you’ll have to disable the annotations again. The next option for eliminating advertisements is using Adblock Plus. If you’re not familiar with this browser extension, then I recommend giving it a try. It blocks all ads that come up on websites that use Google Analytics tracking software, which includes most of them!

Change your country code

Want to know how to get rid of those pesky ads on YouTube videos? You’re in luck! Here are the steps for how you can disable the video ads on YouTube:

1. Click the Adblock Plus button in your browser, which is typically placed at the top right hand corner of your browser window. If you don’t see it, then hit F11 or Ctrl+Shift+I.

2. Type youtube into Adblock’s search box and click on it.

3. Change the country code to us if it’s not already set as such.

4. Look down below Enabled by default and change this setting from Yes to No.

5. Check the box that says Annoying/Obnoxious Autoplay Video Ads, then click Add.

The first thing you need to do is navigate to the preferences menu on the YouTube site. This is at the top, under the red banner, and should be a drop-down menu. From there, select Playback. In that window, you’ll have a few options; change the ones with *ads* next to them to click Off. That’ll take care of ads before videos start playing on your screen. You can also disable Google’s recommendation engine from your account’s settings if you want, which will remove suggested videos from all over the site (not just those before video playback). Just go to Settings > General > uncheck show me recommended content. And for good measure, make sure to set up an ad blocker extension like AdBlock or Adblock Plus for Chrome or Firefox.

Disabling Third Party Cookies and Tracking Pixels

1. Go to Preferences in the drop-down menu that appears at the top of your screen, or if you’re already on the Account page then select Preferences.

2. Click on the Privacy tab.

3. At the bottom, click on the button called Clear cookies and other site data, which will cause a dialog box with all your options for deleting and disabling cookies, third party trackers, videos, etc., to pop up

4. Check off Keep local data only until I quit my browser

5. Check off Block third-party cookies and site data.

6. Click OK to save changes. You may need to sign out and back into YouTube for changes to take effect

Unsubscribe from Google Analytics and AdWords

If you watch YouTube videos without any ad-blocker and then unsubscribe from Google Analytics and AdWords, Google will show you fewer ads. All you have to do is visit YouTube and click the three dots in the top right corner. Select ‘Video Manager’. Click on ‘All Videos’. From there, click on ‘Active videos’ and make sure it says Published instead of Private. Click on all the videos that are not published and select ‘Deactive video’ if a box pops up. That’s it! You’ll see less ads as long as you don’t re-subscribe to Google Analytics or AdWords.
