In iOS 16, Apple has introduced a new Home screen search button that shows at the bottom of your home screen. While this isn’t much of an issue when you have the iPhone X or other devices with the home button removed, it can be very annoying if you have an older iPhone model with the home button and it ends up taking up valuable space on your home screen where you could be placing other apps and widgets. Thankfully, there’s an easy way to remove this pesky search button! Here are three steps you can take to disable the search function in iOS 16 on your iPhone or iPad today! 3 Simple Steps to Remove the Home Screen Search Button in iOS 16

Step 1: Go to settings

Finding and opening the Settings app on your iPhone is probably the easiest part of this whole process. Just swipe down from the top-right corner of your screen to reveal Control Center, then tap the gear icon. From there, scroll down until you find the Siri & Search option and tap it. Now scroll down a little bit more until you see Voice Searches Off. Tap that and disable the switch next to it. A message will pop up telling you that once you turn off voice searches, they can no longer be activated by pressing the home button. You can always access them by swiping up from the bottom of your screen and tapping search, or by pressing and holding down on the left side of the bar at the bottom of your screen (where Apple Pay would normally be). Once turned off, close out of settings.

First, open up the Settings app on your iPhone. Then, scroll down until you see Siri & Search. Tap on that option and you’ll be taken to a new screen.

On the Siri & Search screen, you’ll see a bunch of different options that you can toggle on or off. You want to tap on the one labeled On Lock Screen. Once you do that, tap on Off under Allow Access When Locked. Now when you lock your phone with a passcode or Touch ID, there will no longer be an option for Siri & Search. You’re all set!

Step 3: Tap on it and uncheck the box saying Home button opens Siri

If you want to remove the home screen search button in iOS 16, you’ll need to go into your Settings app and tap on Siri & Search. Once you’re there, find the section labeled Home Button and tap on it. You should see a toggle next to Siri & Search that says Home button opens Siri. Tap on that toggle to turn it off, and the home screen search button will be removed from your device. It’s that easy! 1) Open Settings

Assuming you have a device running iOS 16, the first thing you’ll need to do is open Settings. You can do this by tapping on the gray gear icon on your home screen. Once you’re in Settings, tap on General. From there, scroll down and tap on Spotlight. On the next page, you’ll see a bunch of different options that you can toggle on or off. The one you’re looking for is called Search Results. If it’s green, that means it’s turned on. Simply tap the button once more to disable it. That’s all there is to it! Once you’ve disabled the search results feature, you will no longer be able to access any applications by typing their name into the search bar at the top of your phone.

2) Tap General

Do you want to get rid of that pesky home screen search button in iOS 16? It’s easy! Just follow these three simple steps and you’ll be good to go. First, tap on General in your Settings app. Next, toggle off Accessibility Shortcut. Then, scroll down and toggle off Show Keyboard Cursor. Finally, restart your phone. After rebooting, the keyboard cursor will disappear when it is not needed. To make sure this setting has been enabled properly, open up any app with a text field (such as Notes) and try typing without using the keyboard. If everything was done correctly, no key should appear on-screen when you type and instead, you should see a cursor blinking where each letter should go.

3) Tap Restrictions

If you’re not a fan of the new home screen search button in iOS 16, you can remove it with just a few taps. Here’s how 2) Create a four-digit passcode for restrictions

Tap that, then uncheck both boxes under Show Home Control on Spotlight. 4) Finally, go back to Restrictions again (top right corner), this time tapping General so that it becomes highlighted at the top left. Uncheck the box next to Allow apps downloaded from: and scroll all the way down to find App Store – Apple ID: **YOUR APPLE ID**. Tap that, then tap Turn Off In-App Purchases. Now you’re good to go! Your home screen search button has been removed!
