YouTube will soon roll out its dark mode, one of the feature that has been exclusive to YouTube app, to its web version of the platform. This was confirmed in a tweet by Alex Jolicoeur, technical lead of YouTube, who revealed that the functionality will become available soon on desktop and laptop computers as well as on mobile devices. Unfortunately, no specific date was given, but it’s worth noting that just like with any other software release, there are always bugs and glitches that need to be ironed out and this time around dark mode might not be ready for primetime when first deployed. A YouTube spokesperson told PCMag via email, We are working on updating YouTube’s web UI with a dark theme. This feature is currently in development and will be rolled out soon. That’s not a specific timeline, but at least it’s something.
