Peaky Blinders centers around the gang’s exploits in Birmingham and their struggles to stay one step ahead of their rivals and the police, led by Detective Inspector Chester Campbell (Sam Neill). One particularly important piece of the show’s Birmingham puzzle is Ruben Oliver, played by actor Alexander Siddig. From where did Oliver come? And why does he play such an important role in the world of Peaky Blinders? Let’s take a look! Why Ruben Oliver is the Perfect Fit for Peaky Blinders

History

Alexander Siddig plays Ruben Oliver in Peaky Blinders, a Birmingham gangster. Siddig himself was born and raised in Sudan, but moved to England at 14. He trained at RADA and went on to star in over 100 TV episodes and movies. According to The Guardian, Siddig’s career has taken him from Syria to Egypt and all across America. But it looks like he’s found his home on screen as a hard-boiled criminal character—perfect casting for a role that had fans reeling with anticipation before even filming started!

Acting Background

Alexander Siddig, best known to television audiences as Dr. Julian Bashir from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, has recently taken on his most challenging role yet. As Ruben Oliver, one of three sons in Peaky Blinders, Siddig said his new character was physically and mentally grueling—like doing a marathon every day. This show also featured some great actors such as Cillian Murphy, Sam Neill and Adrien Brody.

He felt lucky to be on set with such talented people who made him feel welcome as soon as he arrived in Liverpool. It was a fun experience filming here at home because there were some locations where I had been before that weren’t too far from my house in East Sheen.

New Character on Peaky Blinders

We’re all waiting with bated breath to see who’s going to be cast as Tommy Shelby in Peaky Blinders season four. Rumors suggest that Scoot McNairy (Halt and Catch Fire) or Ed Norton (Fight Club) might take on Shelbys iconic role, but there are plenty of other names being thrown around too. One of those names is Alexander Siddig. The Game of Thrones actor joined Peaky Blinders at a particularly exciting time: season four seems like it could be an epic one, since it takes place in both 1918 Birmingham and 1920s Paris, but that means casting big-name actors alongside Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy and co.—big-name actors like Siddig!

Future Outlook

From Cucumber to Peaky, Siddig has worked his way through some very different roles and characters. Even when playing supporting parts, he’s often had something interesting going on with his character: whether it was Ra’s al Ghul in Batman Begins or Doran Martell in Game of Thrones. He may not have always been a fan favorite (though many will argue that he was), but Siddig has consistently brought complex characters to life on screen. In contrast to his previous work, though, Oliver seems like a real chance for him to shine as a lead character on screen.

Does Ruben betray Polly?

(SPOILER ALERT) Yes, he does. However, it’s not exactly like that. Polly’s brother Arthur had shot and killed a Catholic priest, which led to his execution by firing squad. During Arthur’s execution, there was a riot at which two policemen were killed by someone who wasn’t part of their rioting gang. When Ed begins asking questions about why some people are willing to risk death during one of these riots, he ends up threatening Beatrice just to get her information. He threatens her children as well but she refuses to tell him anything because they aren’t relevant to what happened during Arthur’s execution.

What happened to Polly’s painter Peaky Blinders?

You’ve never seen a show as intense and immersive as Peaky Blinders. The series, created by Steven Knight and starring Cillian Murphy (and Michael Palin, who you can’t not like), follows Tommy Shelby’s criminal organization in Birmingham through World War I. We return to find Tommy once again struggling with his family while he runs his gang against new enemies. This season we see Tommy accept help from an unlikely ally, a quickening relationship between two of his children, and old enemies resurfacing. How will it all end?

Who does Polly sleep with in Peaky Blinders?

In Peaky Blinders, who does Polly sleep with? That’s a question that fans of Steve Knight’s gritty crime drama have been asking themselves for quite some time. Most viewers believe that it was Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy) who sparked her romantic feelings and when she was banished from his life by Aunt Polly (Helen McCrory), she turned to Bobby Hobbs. Now, however, we may have found out exactly which character Polly actually slept with during Season 2 of Peaky Blinders. Yes, you guessed it – but you also don’t know yet because we aren’t going to tell you!
