Alexander Siddig, best known to television audiences as Dr. Julian Bashir from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, has recently taken on his most challenging role yet. As Ruben Oliver, one of three sons in Peaky Blinders, Siddig said his new character was physically and mentally grueling—like doing a marathon every day. During Arthur’s execution, there was a riot at which two policemen were killed by someone who wasn’t part of their rioting gang. When Ed begins asking questions about why some people are willing to risk death during one of these riots, he ends up threatening Beatrice just to get her information. He threatens her children as well but she refuses to tell him anything because they aren’t relevant to what happened during Arthur’s execution.
