Production History
Production on RRR began in 2012 when Ram Charan was signed on to star as father and son duo, with Vijayendra Prasad writing the screenplay. In late 2013, S. S. Rajamouli joined as director after completing his project, Eega. By March 2014, Gopichand was announced to play another key role opposite Charan’s son character in place of Ajay Devgn who opted out due to prior commitments. Pre-production work took place through early 2015 with principal photography beginning that May and concluding in October 2016 after a single overseas shooting schedule.

The film features an ensemble cast. It stars N. T. Rama Rao Jr., Ram Charan, Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Shetty in lead roles. It was announced that Thaman would compose music for two songs and score for the film. The rest of the crew includes art director Sabu Cyril as its production designer; Nirav Shah as its cinematographer; Srinivas Mohan as its editor; Sai Madhav Burra as its costume designer; Prasad Murella as its sound designer and Leela Samant Sharma did visuals in post-production. The shooting started on 26 December 2016 at Annapurna Studios.

Although Rajamouli has not given out official numbers, it’s been reported that RRR will cost anywhere from $80–120 million to make. We can expect a theatrical release for at least 3,000 screens in India, and even more worldwide. In total, there could be $150 million in marketing costs alone, which may lead to a final product cost well over $200 million. But it’s possible that RRR will have no trouble getting made or recouping its budget due to Vijayendra Prasad’s past success as a writer; Prasad co-wrote and co-produced Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017), which earned more than $100 million in pre-release ticket sales by itself.
Marketing Promotions
Each one of these stars has over 100 million followers on social media, and Vijayendra Prasad and S.S. Rajamouli each have a massive fan following around them. In addition to promoting with celebrities, you can also plan promotional stunts to generate interest in your product. For example, earlier in 2017, Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan was injured during a shoot for his film Kaabil; he posted about it on Facebook and generated enough interest that several newspaper articles discussed his injury. RRR will cost around $20 million to produce and has a reported budget of $25 million. That’s more than any film released in India, but still below Hollywood standards. Rajamouli was able to keep costs down by using N. T. The biggest draw for audiences are also probably going to be Rajamouli’s VFX. The man behind Magadheera and Baahubali, he knows what he’s doing. He has already proved that he can create mind-blowing visuals even with a modest budget. With RRR, his team will have access to many more resources. And when those resources come together with his skills…well, it would be an understatement to say that there are high expectations! Fans are hoping they will get back all of their money’s worth with just one film! It should not be surprising if RRR ends up being one of—if not THE—most expensive Telugu films ever made!
My Fav Scene
The final battle scene between Ram Charan, Ajay Devgn and Alia Bhatt. The visuals were stunning and reminded me of Avatar in many ways. The computer generated imagery was simply amazing, to say nothing about Alia Bhatt’s performance. Without giving too much away, she gets an opportunity to show us why she was cast as one of India’s most famous heroines. As a movie fan it will be a long three years waiting for release but I can’t wait! I don’t often write reviews but I just had to talk about my thoughts on these new actors; they are going to make Indian cinema history!
Promotions and Digital Strategy
The film is scheduled to release in both 2D and 3D formats on 28 May 2022, during EID. A film’s box office earnings are traditionally divided into three primary revenue streams: ticket sales, television broadcast rights, and merchandising (the last two together are commonly referred to as back-end revenues). While an exact breakdown for RRR has not been disclosed by producers, industry analysts estimate that at least 60% of its total revenues will come from ticket sales from theatrical releases across India and overseas territories like America. For example: In 2001 Aamir Khan’s Lagaan became only India’s second film (after 1982’s Gandhi) to cross 100 crore nett at Box Office Hindustan Times & The Indian Express – 2001/02/08.

Rajamouli’s upcoming film will feature no big stars. The director says Today, even if you take an actor with a lot of experience and do 100 films, we still don’t look at him as somebody who has done 100 films. He adds that actors are too scared to commit to a project for 18 months and hence he won’t take any big names. That doesn’t mean there won’t be stars in RRR; several young actors are said to be trying out for lead roles in it. That apart, industry insiders say that Rajamouli might go ahead with two versions of his magnum opus: one with all-stars and another without any A-listers.

Although there’s no standard budget for marketing films, it’s generally accepted that films need to spend at least $30 million to be successful. At first glance, it may seem like a lot, but consider that film budgets average more than $125 million these days. This makes sense when you realize just how much is spent on promoting and advertising films: about 30% of an average film’s budget goes toward advertising alone. Some films even see spending as high as 50% on ads. These are staggering numbers when you realize how powerful word-of-mouth can be in Hollywood.
Ram Charan Is Look Like Lord Ram
Ram Charan who will be seen in a double role for RRR plays two completely different roles. In both roles he has to wear a turban which gives him an unique identity. Ram Charan said that My character had to be visually striking and there was no way I could look like anyone else while wearing a turban, so they made sure that my looks are really different from what I have done earlier. The central point of focus in all poster and teasers thus far has been on Charan’s turbaned head and flowing locks. His persona as Krishna shows him dressed simply, with his only ornaments being earrings and bracelets; meanwhile, his portrayal as Buddha sports a shaved head with tattoos on his forehead.

An International movie star teamup brings audiences from around to globe together in a way that only occurs a few times in an actors lifetime. The hype surrounding such a film can build up to intense levels, creating an event mentality at theaters and among audiences that can translate into cash at the box office. There are plans to release one part each year from 2019 through 2022.
