The Sandman, the acclaimed comic book by Neil Gaiman, will be developed into a new television series by DC Entertainment and the streaming service Netflix, announced today at the annual Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour. The new series is being written by Gaiman and developed by Goyer, Heinberg, and Warner Bros. Television. The announcement was made by Jessica Rhodes of DC Entertainment and Ted Sarandos of Netflix via Twitter today. Production on the new series will begin after Gaiman has completed work on the upcoming novel Norse Mythology, scheduled to be published in 2017 by W.W. Norton & Company.
