Introduction
When you think of spies, you might picture James Bond. Perhaps characters from Mission: Impossible, or The Man from U.N.C.L.E.. But these fictional spies can’t hold a candle to Tatsuya Endo’s new manga series, SPY×FAMILY (published by Shogakukan and serialized in their Sho-Comi magazine). Unlike all those other spies—who are gifted but otherwise ordinary people doing their jobs—SPY×FAMILY shows us a real spy who is also an ordinary man… but with one twist: he has no idea what he’s doing!
SPY x FAMILY | Official Trailer | Netflix
No one likes a show that’s good and then becomes bad, right? I sure don’t. So when Netflix released an official trailer for their original series, SPY x FAMILY, I was pleasantly surprised by how great it looks. This looks like my kind of spy drama—ruthless, calculated and full of suspense. It even has a superb cast: Takumi Saito (Inuyashiki), Mao Inoue (Rurouni Kenshin) and Kentaro Koyanagi (Kamen Rider Den-O). If you love espionage as much as I do, then be sure to check out SPY x FAMILY which will premier on Netflix on August 24th!
Who are you – an introduction to the main characters
Tatsuya Endo’s Spy × Family (stylized as SPY×FAMILY; pronounced Spy Family) is a manga series that begins with an espionage agency, but quickly shifts its focus to one of its spies. Instead of leaving his work at work, he brings it home with him by adopting a young girl named Kokoro, whose past and ability are shrouded in mystery. As soon as their relationship takes off, he is called on another mission and must leave Kokoro under another agent’s care while he completes his assignment. However, all is not what it seems – there is more to her than meets the eye! How will their relationship grow now that it has taken such a dramatic turn?

The protagonist Daisuke Saiki has been enlisted by his superiors to build a family made up of former spies with non-standard backgrounds and personalities. All they need is one more person: a daughter.

Who Is Tatsuya Endo?
If you’re not familiar with Tatsuya Endo, that’s probably a good thing. The notoriously private author of SPY×FAMILY (or Spy Family as it is titled in Japan) is one of Japan’s most successful and mysterious authors. After graduating from Osaka University, he worked at a variety of jobs until finally beginning his career as an author in 2005. His debut work Ookiku Furikabutte (Big Windup!) won him instant fame. Since then, he has become a member of numerous acclaimed committees and conventions that support manga artists, including Gekiga Sonjoh, which focuses on independent manga writers.
Why This Story Works
There are a lot of spy stories out there, but Spy x Family is going to be completely different from everything else you’ve read. This story follows a spy who has to build a family to execute a mission. It might seem like an odd setup, but it will definitely make for an interesting story. Plus, family values are popular with most people nowadays, so you can connect with your audience if you really sell them on how important family is to someone who works as a spy. At its core, family is something we all want and we all understand; just think about your own family and how much you love them and what they mean to you.

What Makes this Manga So Popular?
The first thing that comes to mind is its fascinating mix of genres. In addition to being a romantic comedy, it manages to be an espionage and action-thriller at times, as well. It helps that these themes are represented by relatable characters who you’ll find yourself rooting for from start to finish. If you’re new to manga, I can’t recommend Spy x Family enough; it’s a sure way of knowing what type of series will catch your interest more than anything else!
Three Reasons To Read It!
While some manga series try to focus on all out action and epicness, others work to capture your heart. Tatsuya Endo’s Spy x Family does just that, following a secret agent as he struggles with what it means to have a family. In an era where many people rely on social media for their sense of belonging, Spy x Family takes us back to a time when real connections were more important than likes or hearts. What also makes Spy x Family worth reading is its strong character development, which is key for readers who enjoy seeing characters evolve over time.
Q & A
Is Spy family an anime?
Yes, you can watch it online. It is also available on DVD and Blu-ray in Japan. It is not currently licensed for a Western release. Why did you write about SPY×FAMILY? : I love espionage stories, but I think most of them are too serious or dark to be enjoyable. SPY×FAMILY was different from what I had read before because it was full of humor and heartwarming moments that made me smile.
How many episodes of spy family will there be?
There will be two seasons of 12 episodes each. The first season is currently airing on Fuji TV, but you can watch on Crunchyroll too! Where can u watch spy family?
NETFLIX …. I recommend getting it from Amazon Japan; they release new chapters every week. For those of you who don’t speak Japanese, though, your best bet is to wait until there’s an official English translation—it hasn’t been announced yet, but I’m guessing that will happen within a year or two of its publication date. Plus, if you’re like me and don’t live near a good anime store (or an anime store at all), then Amazon is probably your only option for a long time! The first volume comes out April 20th.
Will spy family get animated?
There’s no guarantee that there will be an anime adaptation but we’ll definitely keep our fingers crossed for one. We did catch up with Tatsuya Endo at Anime Expo and asked him about his hope for whether or not SPY×FAMILY would get adapted into an anime: It’s a secret! I really want to see it adapted into an anime series! I would like to see it animated, but that is still unknown. While he could not give us a definitive answer on whether or not he was involved in getting it adapted, we certainly can dream.

What is LOID forger real name?
I don’t know of any other facts about him though. Let me just say that his name is Kai. What kind of relationship did he have with Urabe? From what I can see, it appears as if they were childhood friends or something to that extent. Were we ever going to learn why LOID was referred to as LOID? I believe he was only going to be referred to as such throughout the entire story and there would never be an explanation for it (I could be wrong though). Did you ever find out why Aoi used a knife at one point when she was a child?
Does LOID find out about Yor?
Japanese manga artist Tatsuya Endō has developed a rather unique way of putting readers into his stories: by creating fictional mobile phone applications that are actually present in LOID, his story-telling platform of choice. It’s a great idea, really. Nowhere is it easier to mix reality and fiction than in real life… right? One of those apps is not just useful—it’s downright helpful! In one instance where an untrustworthy character was being referenced, I found out more about him—and caught a huge plot twist I didn’t expect! For once an application came along that was something I wanted to have… but also kind of scared me.
Does Twilight find out Anya can read minds?
In a land of magic and monsters, Twilight Sparkle is known as The Hero of Ponyville. However, she isn’t alone. Her best friends, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy, Applejack and Rarity join her on all sorts of adventures. And they’re not just along for the ride: They’ve got talents that come in handy when Twilight Sparkle comes face-to-face with danger. The four friends are called Earth Ponies because they draw their incredible strength from their connection to all things natural. When it comes to magic—and adventure!—nothing beats having a best friend at your side!
Does LOID care about Anya?
Anya and her father enter, with Anya acting like a little child; she addresses Chaika as An-chan. This annoys Gillette. Meanwhile, Gilette starts suspecting about their identities after receiving Gillette from his superiors. At night, Chaika asks Anya to keep an eye on Gillette for her. The next day, Anya tries various tactics to try get closer to Gillette but fails due to Gillette remaining aloof of her attempts and also because of Anka distracting him from time to time by setting himself on fire or letting rats out of his pouch. On another occasion while watching a play together, Anka accidentally reveals that they are not just a street performance group but is actually a cover for their true profession as assassins.
Why does Anya call him Sy on boy?
Anya’s first memory is that of being a prisoner in a room full of wolves, and later she was taken into Sylvester’s home. When Anya first heard his name, she misheard it as Sy, and from then on she called him by that name. This is how they became close and he comes to think of her as a daughter. As for why we never hear about his family or how he became an intelligence agent, we may learn more about him when his past unfolds in future chapters. If you’re reading SNOWBLOOD for its plot, be sure to stay until after you reach chapter 25. That’s when things really get going!

Tatsuya Endo, author of a number of popular series like Real, is back with a new action-packed adventure—this time about spies. SPY×FAMILY follows an ex-spy and his adopted daughter as they navigate life on their own. The beautiful, long-haired heroines are his weapon—the younger Mifuyu Muffy Mikoshiba has telekinetic powers and can use her mind to control objects around her and throw them at her enemies.
