The character of Bonding is a rare portrayal of an Asian American female teen. Stephanie said, I think it’s so important for people to have visibility and representation in media. In this day and age where so much attention is put on how diverse the world can be, I’m just happy to be able to add my voice. When she was 6 years old, she gave her first performance on-stage in the play, Scrooge at TUTS
I was always doing something that I wasn’t supposed to do, she recalls. I would sneak into my mom’s closet and put on her high heels, or I would jump off of the couch onto the floor. By age six, Styles had given her first performance on-stage in TUTS’ production of Scrooge. It was such a magical moment for me because it was one of those things where I got to be somebody else, and that helped me out so much.
