Shireen Abu Akleh, a Palestinian American journalist for Al Jazeera, has been imprisoned since June of 2018 by Saudi Arabia in the kingdom’s consulate in Istanbul, Turkey. If she is extradited to Saudi Arabia and not released, she will likely face an unfair trial in which she would be charged with inciting anti-Saudi and anti-regime propaganda via her journalism with Al Jazeera America. She previously had her work published in The New York Times, the BBC, and The Huffington Post.
