Lawyers Are People Too

If you know anything about the Marvel Universe, you probably know that superheroes are an integral part of this world. They’ve been around for decades fighting crime and saving lives and providing a common touchstone for all audiences. She-Hulk is one of these heroes and she also doubles as an attorney by day in her civilian identity as Jennifer Walters.

But Not Normal People

The interactions between these characters show how an attorney would handle a case. It could be done this way to illustrate how a different type of attorney might deal with the law. For example, She-Hulk focuses on what the law says and breaks down the evidence in court while Steve appears to focus more on connecting with his client and understanding their feelings in order to get them to talk about what they’re trying to hide.

Good lawyer or good person?

What’s your opinion on lawyers? Are they dishonest people who take advantage of their clients’ vulnerability to make money? Or are they people who help the innocent escape from a crime they did not commit? This week, the Marvel TV series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law tackles the question of what it means to be a good lawyer. Watch as Jen Walters tries to work for a lawyer that is just in it for the money and only cares about winning cases.
