Minions was released in theaters yesterday, and there’s already lots of buzz about the adorable yellow henchmen who help the villain Gru (played by Steve Carell) hatch one dastardly plan after another. These little guys are just so darn cute! In fact, they’re so cute that it’s hard to imagine them being as evil as they are in the movie. But don’t let their goofy personalities fool you—as we learned from one particular Minion, these yellow henchmen are no joke when it comes to melee combat! What would I do if I had three wishes?

Lucy Lawless as the nun with nunchucks in 2016’s [Minions:] The Rise of Gru has a few things going for her. For one, she doesn’t use guns or any other weapon that could potentially backfire and cause her to accidentally kill herself or anyone else on board her ship. She keeps it safe with some nun-chucks, which are basically just like regular nunchucks but with a habit instead of your classic dragonfly chain links. They’re also useful for combatting pirates, who would really prefer not getting punched in their ribs by a nun trying to make them go straight to hell.

If you want to be cute, maybe it’s time to use your brain

With her curly blonde hair, Lucy Lawless is one of Hollywood’s biggest badasses. She has a black belt in karate and earned a second degree black belt in tae kwon do at only 15 years old. She was even ranked number one female martial artist by Black Belt Magazine for several years.

But what about her character Nunchuck? Nunchuck doesn’t appear until Act 3 when Gru (Steve Carell) recruits her to be a member of his personal army. And although she only shows up briefly, she brings plenty to bear on her team and certainly catches our attention (and respect).

Maybe there’s something out there that needs our help

Regardless, there are probably some very nice movies that need us to explain them to people. We can do it! And yes, I’m referring to everyone’s favorite yellow henchmen. Minions wasn’t as well received as its predecessor, but Lucy Lawless seemed pretty badass as a nun who also used nunchucks and were also a member of an organization known only as The Vicious 6. If you are unfamiliar with Ms. Lawless (which would be shocking since you should have already watched Buffy) she was married in real life to Xena co-star Renee O’Connor.

At the end of the day, it all comes down to the choices we make

our careers, where we live, and who we surround ourselves with. Hollywood actors have to make difficult choices like any other human being—even though they might be in a slightly different position than most of us. Lucy Lawless (who played Xena Warrior Princess) said that if she didn’t like where a script took her character, she’d ask them to change it. If they wouldn’t budge,

Lawless would say okay I quit and walk away. And although you probably don’t want to follow her example when working on your next project or initiative, it’s never too early for anyone to start thinking about how they can influence their own career path by asserting their values early on.

Sometimes in life we have to make choices. Sometimes those choices are easy. Sometimes they’re hard. But every once in a while—maybe even once in a lifetime—there comes a choice so big, so monumental…it changes everything. It happened for me on April 23rd

I watched a nun beat up bad guys with her nunchucks. Just like that, I knew I would never be able to live my life in the same way again. The only thing on my mind now is how to get myself some nun nunchucks and what occasion they might be appropriate for. Do they make them in pink? My life may never be normal again—but whatever happens, at least I’ll die happy. And maybe wearing some awesome pants. So long, average life…it’s been nice knowing you! [Source: Collider]

Did Lucy Lawless do the Xena yell?

Yes! In character, Lawless did shout a variation on Xena’s trademark battle cry in Cloudy 2, which was directed by her Xena and Battlestar Galactica co-star Nicki Clyne. I did do it but I had to do it in a sort of ‘fake nun’ way so that was kind of interesting, she said. It sounds like someone may have looped her yell for use in trailers or TV spots for Minion (it probably won’t appear on its soundtrack) — at least, that’s what she heard when she first saw it.

Is Lucy Lawless her real name?

Lawless is a common surname in New Zealand, and many of its bearers are not related to her. A surveyor called James Lawless assisted with surveying land used for an airstrip during World War II, for example. James Lawless’s descendants in New Zealand say that they were asked almost daily about our supposed relation to Lucy Lawless from Xena. It has been a source of amusement to us over many years as we have been able to correct each person very quickly and send them on their way. Some researchers believe that Lucy Lawless could also be descended from Irish chieftain Brian Boru (941 – 1014). However, no documentary evidence for such claims has yet been found.
