Why were you interested in being on POWER book II?
I was interested in being on POWER book II because I loved the first season of POWER and I really liked the character of Tasha. Plus, I’m a huge fan of Naturi Naughton. She’s an amazing actress and I really wanted to work with her. The role of Tasha is also really challenging and I knew that it would be a great opportunity to showcase my skills.
What attracted you to the character of Tasha?
I was immediately drawn to the character of Tasha when I read the script for Power Book II: Ghost. I loved her strength and determination, and I could really relate to her story. Plus, Naturi Naughton is an amazing actress and I knew she would bring the character to life perfectly.
Did you approach the role differently this time around?
Naturi Naughton returns to the small screen as Tasha St. Patrick in the highly anticipated sequel to the STARZ Original series Power. This time around, Naughton approached the role with a bit more trepidation. I was really nervous to come back and reprise the role of Tasha, she admits. But once I got on set and started working with the cast and crew again, it all came back to me.
Are there similarities between your life and that of your character?
I was born and raised in Newark, New Jersey so I can definitely relate to Tasha’s tough upbringing. And like Tasha, I’m a mother and wife first and foremost. I also understand the challenges she faces as a woman of color in a male-dominated industry. But at the end of the day, we’re both survivors who have overcome a lot of obstacles to get where we are today.
