Todd, She-Hulk’s not-quite-a-love-interest and not-quite-a-villain, is played by actor Jon Bass, who has been in such films as The Best Man Holiday, Everybody Wants Some!!, and The DUFF. But how did Jon get the role? What was it like on set? And what was his favorite scene? Here, Jon shares all that and more! Jon Bass: Playing Todd on She-Hulk !

About Jon Bass

A well loved comedy veteran, actor and writer of such shows as The Office and Parks and Recreation, Jon has also lent his comedic chops to cartoons like Batman Beyond, Teen Titans Go!, Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated, Ben 10 Omniverse and more. He is used to getting whatever he wants– that’s the primary thing you need to know about the character.

About His Role As Todd

Jon takes to the character of Todd, who is an obvious riff on Tony Stark, but then goes off in his own directions. I like playing the more nerdy guys who are a little bit socially awkward, says Jon. And so that’s not a stretch for me.

I’ll start by saying I’m completely flattered that Marvel even wanted me to be involved in this project, but I was definitely surprised

I’m not sure why I was so surprised by Marvel’s offer to have me be a part of the series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. I guess after doing years of serious drama, being invited to play a comedic role felt like it came out of left field. Honestly, it’s been great; we’ve had such an awesome time putting this thing together and making the show.

But being in the business of acting, I know there’s really no such thing as an actual spoiler so I just went along with it

Acting is weird, there’s no such thing as a spoiler. You might know the dialogue in advance but you can’t know how it’s going to be executed, what the director wants, or who they’re going to cast. But being in the business of acting I know there’s really no such thing as an actual spoiler so I just went along with it and didn’t try too hard to keep myself out of that episode.

Luckily, I’ve been playing roles like this my whole life

I’ve been playing Attorney at Law, since we were kids. I was the Mayor in Happy Days when I was four, and then a lawyer and a CEO on Full House when I was about twelve. It’s so much fun to be able to show off my comedic skills and tap into that deep well of courtroom experience as the newest attorney for Marvel!

Here are some fun facts about my character

We caught up recently with one of the stars of MARVEL’s She-Hulk: Attorney at Law Jon Bass, to chat about his most recent gig and what we can expect from this courtroom comedy.

What was it like to play Todd?

Todd is a billionaire philanthropist and playboy who spends more time in the sky than on land and who sees himself as an earthling’s answer to Tony Stark– but doesn’t quite come off that way. What drew you to this role?

Any regrets about auditioning?

No regrets! I love that I get to work with such an incredible cast and crew, and I couldn’t be prouder of this show. Also, the amount of people who watch the show online blows my mind–I mean it’s a Marvel superhero that airs exclusively on Facebook Watch? It’s kind of crazy.

What was your favorite part of working on the series?

The most rewarding part of playing Todd has been the live reads. This was the first time I’ve ever done anything in front of an audience and the experience has been great. Being in a room full of people laughing at lines I wrote, just a few hours after writing them, is indescribable. I also loved being able to try new voices and be extremely unafraid to make mistakes, as it helped me grow into more comfortable with voice acting and myself.

I have four brothers and one sister. It was great growing up in a close-knit family that supported one another, but now I can’t even remember which school they go to. We were all born two years apart, which made things interesting when it came to sports; we had some epic battles over who was the best at any given game!
