The Sanderson sisters have returned in Hocus Pocus 2, and this time they are back to finish the job that started all those years ago. Now it’s up to the high-school student Becca, who lived next door to Max Dennison and his sister Dani, to stop them by using the same witchcraft they used on Halloween night in 1993. Although she has her doubts at first, she eventually convinces her boyfriend, new friends and high-school crush that she can do it, with or without their help. Will they be able to come together in time? Hocus Pocus 2: Becca Tries to Stop the Sanderson Sisters

Why I wanted to be in Hocus Pocus 2

I really wanted to be in Hocus Pocus because I love Halloween, and I thought it would be awesome. The costume was a big plus too! Now that I’ve had a chance to watch it, I’m so glad they decided to make Hocus Pocus 2. It’s funny, has tons of plot twists and turns, is exciting (even though you know what’s going to happen,) and—of course—it has great actresses. In fact, one of my favorite parts of being in Hocus Pocus was getting advice from Bette Midler on how to sing I Put A Spell On You. She encouraged me not only as an actress but also as a singer by saying she was confident in my abilities—that was probably one of my proudest moments!

Who Is Whitney Peak Play as Becca

The beloved heroine from Hocus Pocus is back! The Sanderson sisters have returned and they’re up to their old tricks. There’s only one person who can save Salem now…and that’s Becca, who made a deal with Max to become immortal in exchange for her soul. Unfortunately, she doesn’t realize he sold her soul right back into hell where she belongs.

Now all of her friends are doomed unless she can stop Max and get her life back! She must do everything in her power to return home and defeat Joanna, Madeline, and Abigail—the witches must go away forever! This time around she’ll need more than magic…she needs help from special friends. But will it be enough?

What I love about being in the movie

The experience of being a character in Hocus Pocus has helped me grow both personally and professionally. As part of my role as Becca, I had an opportunity to stretch myself as an actress and show that I was capable of portraying more than just a sidekick or supporting character. At first, I wasn’t sure if I could deliver an emotionally powerful performance—until someone told me that Whitney Peak had done it before, playing Adrian in Disney Channel’s Girl vs. Monster with Nicolas Cage and Claire Holt. The film was emotional, focusing on Adrian’s struggle with her father dying from cancer, but her performance showed she could carry off any role—even one closer to home.

The first week on set was really tough

It was really cold and I had no idea what I was doing. But everyone on set supported me from day one. My boyfriend Andrew, who’s a cameraman, is working on Hocus Pocus 2 as well, so we spent our time off camera just hanging out in his caravan and chatting with people like Joel (Daniels) or Bette (Midler). It has been an amazing experience so far! We have 3 more weeks of shooting left, then it’s premiere time! Can’t wait!

My favorite scenes from Hocus Pocus 2

It was funny. I had no idea that Hocus Pocus was such a cult classic, and it’s so cool that people really cared about what I did with my character. So, when people started writing me on Twitter and Instagram saying they’d be watching closely to see if they could catch me betray them in some way, I made sure that happened. Or rather…I told Whitney Peak she would have to betray her fans after I found out what goes down in Hocus Pocus 2: Becca’s Revenge! It was SO much fun! And now you know one of my favorite scenes! Watch closely for my other roles as well – there’s a lot of mischief from me throughout! You’re welcome 😉 xoxo –Piper Curda

When I found out fans were freaking out about my role

One Reddit user claimed he had just returned from seeing Hocus Pocus 2 and that Whitney Peak plays a larger role in all three parts of it, which I think is cool. A week before I saw it, fans on Reddit said they thought I would have a small part and that Max Thieriot (from Bates Motel) was playing my boyfriend. However, when I finally got to see it last night with friends at their house, there were tons of Easter eggs for my character. It’s fun to see all of those reactions because even though people say stuff online all day long, there’s always an element of truth in what they write.

Working with Bette Midler was awesome

If you’re familiar with Hocus Pocus, you know what an epic movie it is. The witches are hilarious and so are their outfits. There are times when I want to be a witch but in reality I don’t have their magical powers. That’s why I decided to make my own Hocus Pocus clothing inspired by Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy. They all looked like they had so much fun acting in the movie and it makes me happy just watching them fly on a broomstick or turn Max into a cat!

My favorite Halloween decoration is…

This was an easy one for me. My favorite Halloween decoration is one that I created myself…er, with some help from my mom. Every year, we make a pumpkin patch in our front yard so trick-or-treaters can visit as they walk by. The pumpkins are (usually) all different sizes and shapes; last year, there were even a few small ones shaped like ghosts and spiders. While I always choose normal-looking pumpkins over those other options—I’m pretty sure you have to have something wrong with you if you like squishy things touching your legs—one time I decided to try out a different type of pumpkin than usual.

Is there anything else you want to add?

The Sanderson sisters are back with an all-new tale of terror! This time, they’re trying to recruit a teenager named Becca (played by Whitney Peak) into their coven. But she has other plans. In order to stop them, she must learn how to harness her own magic and use it against them. Hocus Pocus 2 is set in Salem, Massachusetts 30 years after the events of Hocus Pocus.
