Harry Styles talks about his character
My character is a bit of a challenge, to say the least. I’m playing someone who’s been a policeman for 30 years and he’s done some things that make him not just likeable but also very, very difficult to deal with.
I think it’s going to be an interesting challenge for me because I’m used to playing characters where there’s something redeeming about them or they’re pretty positive people. It was really hard at first trying to get my head around this guy.
Emma Corrin talks about her character
My character is a woman who has grown up with a father who was an alcoholic. She’s emotionally detached and she has no concept of how to be vulnerable, or how to love. I think his sensitivity really comes out and it helps me, as an actor, be more sensitive too.
Gina McKee talks about her role
Gina McKee has been acting for over forty years and she still loves what she does. It’s a privilege to be able to do this. She says that it is an honor to be able to represent women and all people in her work. In 2019, McKee starred as a mother who struggles with addiction and depression in BBC One’s adaptation of Catherine Burns’ novel ‘My Policeman’. I was so drawn to it because I think most people understand that we live with varying degrees of darkness, McKee said of the role. We are not always happy and we have ups and downs. Her character, Carol, is a composite of various different people that Bethan Roberts had interviewed during her research into addiction, depression, and suicide rates among first responders.
Director speaks at the red carpet premiere
Michael Grandage, director of My Policeman, attended the premiere with his cast and crew last night. He said he was happy to be able to share his story of Harry Styles and Emma Corrin’s romance with all of us. I’m really happy that people are liking it, I hope they enjoy it, he commented. It’s a really fun ride. You go through so many different emotions throughout the movie, you’re laughing one minute and crying the next.

What attracted you to this project?
My Policeman is a 2022 American romantic drama film based on the 2012 novel of the same name by Bethan Roberts and directed by Michael Grandage. Harry is an ambitious young officer with a strong sense of duty who goes to work each day with one goal: to serve and protect. His world is shattered when he’s told that his next assignment will be as a police patrolman for rural Scotland–a region hardly touched by crime.
Can you tell us about your character?
My character is a policeman. One day, he meets a girl and falls for her quickly. They start dating, but he has to keep his job a secret from her. He eventually tells her and she leaves him. I’m really excited to see how it all turns out! It was an amazing experience working with Emma Corrin and Harry Styles- we’re like best friends now. We had so much fun on set that we wanted to do another movie together. The movie reminds me of my love story with Louis Tomlinson because our parents don’t know about us either.
How did you develop this character?
My Policeman is a 2020 American romance drama film based on the 2012 novel of the same name by Bethan Roberts and directed by Michael Grandage. The story follows Lucy, a young woman who falls in love with her local police officer, Simon. The movie is set to be released on March 15th 2020. Harry Styles portrays Simon and Emma Corrin plays Lucy. Gina McKee plays Annie (Simon’s mother), Linus Roache plays Charlie (Lucy’s father), David Dawson plays Graham (Lucy’s step-father) and Rupert Everett plays Ted (Lucy’s older brother).
The director Michael Grandage has been working on this project for years and it was finally announced that it would be released next year.

I am looking forward to seeing Harry Styles star in the new romantic drama film My Policeman based off of a novel by Bethan Roberts. The story is set to be released on March 27, 2022. This will be our first release of material from our company, and I am very excited to see what people think! I expect that this is going to be a very successful project as it has already been featured in Vanity Fair as well as being nominated for multiple awards.
