How I Got Involved
I always loved fashion and when I was approached to audition for the role of Stella, a fashionable light fairy, I jumped at the chance. It’s been so much fun getting to play a character with such style and sass. And though she starts off as an antagonist to Bloom, I’m so glad that our characters become friends over the course of the show. It’s been an amazing experience being a part of Fate: The Winx Saga and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for my character!
What was it like working on the show?
It was so much fun working on Fate: The Winx Saga! I loved playing Stella – she’s such a fashionable and sassy character. It was great getting to work with the other girls on the show, and we all became really good friends. I’m so excited for everyone to see the show and see what we’ve been working on! And I’m just as excited as anyone else to find out what happens next in Season 2!
My favourite moment
I have been very fortunate in my career and have played many strong female characters but for me, Stella has been one of my favourites because she’s always true to herself and has her own sense of style – which is something we can all relate to.
Do you have any other projects lined up?
Yes! I’m currently working on a fashion line with my good friend Hannah. We just launched our website and we’re already getting a lot of interest from boutiques and individual customers. Our goal is to provide stylish, affordable clothing for women of all sizes. We’re also working on a children’s line, which should be available later this year. Meet the new character
Hannah van der Westhuysen is the perfect actress to bring Stella to life in Fate: The Winx Saga. Not only is she stylish and full of sass, but she also has the acting chops to pull off the complex character. I’ve played a lot of strong female characters so I was really excited when I got this role, says Hannah. Stella is a really strong person with a fiery personality who doesn’t take anything from anyone and I love that about her! She becomes friends with Bloom over time after initially antagonising her – it was an amazing experience filming those scenes!
How she differs from others
Stella is a fashionable light fairy who comes from the wealthy kingdom of Solaria. She’s used to getting her way and can be quite stubborn, but she’s also fiercely loyal to her friends. Hannah van der Westhuysen brings all of these qualities to the role, making Stella a memorable character on Fate: The Winx Saga.

Hannah van der Westhuysen brings style and sass to the role of Stella, a fashionable light fairy and the princess of Solaria. She initially antagonises Bloom but later becomes her friend. Van der Westhuysen shines in scenes where Stella is being her typical diva self, preening and posing for the camera. However, she also shows some emotional depth in scenes where Stella confronts her mother about her true identity.
VFX breakdown
As the fashionable light fairy and princess of Solaria, Stella brings a lot of style and sass to Fate: The Winx Saga. In order to bring the character to life, the VFX team had to create a number of stunning visual effects. For example, they created an ethereal glowing aura for when she is happy or content; dark stormy weather for when she is angry or frustrated; and snowflakes that fall from her fingertips during winter scenes. They also used CG animation to ensure her body movements were fluid during combat sequences
