The 19th season of the American medical drama television series Grey’s Anatomy will premiere on October 6, 2022 on ABC in the United States. Ellen Pompeo Portrays Dr. Meredith Grey
Meredith Grey is an American surgeon. She has been friends with Cristina Yang, Dr. Alex Karev, Dr. Arizona Robbins and Dr. Izzie Stevens since medical school at Seattle Grace Hospital in 2005. When her husband Derek Shepherd dies in a car crash, she struggles to move on from his death as she raises their two children alone. Kristen Gutoskie as Amelia Shepherd : Amelia Shepherd is Meredith Grey’s half-sister who was raised by their father Richard Webber after her mother left when she was young. Chandra Wilson Portrays Dr. Miranda Bailey
Dr. Miranda Bailey is currently one of two characters to have appeared in all of the series’ original run. The other character who has remained on Grey’s for its entire duration is Dr. Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey), Miranda’s husband, as well as a former Chief of Surgery at Seattle Grace Hospital. No matter how busy she is, there’s always time for her husband. In fact, Wilson told The Hollywood Reporter that she believes their relationship is still going strong because they have each other’s backs. Giacomo Gianniotti as Dr. Andrew DeLuca : This doctor had a rough start at his new job—he was fired from his last hospital after he accidentally killed a patient during surgery—but it looks like things are finally turning around for him now that he works with Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) and her team.
James Pickens Jr. Portrays Dr. Richard Webber
Webber first appeared on September 26, 2003, in Season 2. He was originally a recurring character, but was promoted to main cast status for Season 3. Pickens Jr. also played Webber’s identical twin brother Derek Webber in Season 6 after Patrick Dempsey left his role as Dr. Derek Shepherd, Webber’s character remained a main cast member until its end in May 2014. In 2019, Pickens reprised his role as Richard Webber in Grey’s Anatomy (season 19) . Kelly McCreary Portrays Maggie Pierce
A hospital porter who helped save April’s life, Maggie is described as fiercely intelligent with a take-no-prisoners attitude. The daughter of Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd) and Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone), Maggie was one of Dr. Hermann’s interns at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital during his residency; she later became a doctor, like her father. McCreary has previously guest starred on shows including True Detective and The Newsroom. She also had a recurring role in ABC’s short-lived comedy series Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23.
McCreary is set to return as series regular in Grey’s Anatomy Season 14. In a recurring role, she portrayed Dr. Amelia Shepherd who was Derek’s estranged sister and Owen’s ex-girlfriend. McCreary also portrayed Avery Jennings during Private Practice Season 6. She will play Maggie Pierce, Meredith’s half-sister. She has been cast as Maggie Pierce on April 11, 2018. On September 12, 2018, it was announced that McCreary would be promoted to series regular for season 14. McCreary attended Yale University and graduated with honors with a B.A., magna cum laude in English and American literature and language studies in 2005.
Kevin McKidd Portrays Dr. Owen Hunt
A brilliant neurosurgeon whose colorful personality often clashes with his boss, Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson). As we’ll see in Season 18, Owen is trying to move on from Amelia’s death. He’s dating Dr. Nicole Herman (Geena Davis), a fertility specialist who lives in New York City with her daughter. Owen’s other love interest will be Dr. Maggie Pierce (Kelly McCreary), Meredith’s half-sister. Maggie is a surgeon at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital and she comes back into Mer’s life as they try to find out more about their biological mother, Ellis Grey, says McKidd. Owen falls for Maggie pretty hard because she reminds him of Amelia in some ways. She has that same kind of big heart and drive that he fell for so many years ago.
Caterina Scorsone Portrays Dr. Amelia Shepherd
Caterina Scorsone is an American actress who is known for playing Dr. Amelia Shepherd on Grey’s Anatomy (2013–present). Caterina was born on September 21, 1991, in Greenwich, Connecticut. She studied at Boston University. In 2017, she won a Critics’ Choice Television Award as well as a TCA Award for her role as Dr. Amelia Shepherd on Grey’s Anatomy . She has also appeared in several TV series including The Good Wife , Madam Secretary , The Following , and Scorpion . Her first film appearance came with Little Manhattan (2005). In 2016, she appeared in The Secret Life of Pets . In 2018, she starred alongside Jason Bateman in Game Night .
Camilla Luddington Portrays Dr. Jo Wilson
DeLuca is introduced in season nineteen as a surgical intern at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. He is portrayed by Canadian actor Giacomo Gianniotti. DeLuca first appeared in season three of Private Practice, before moving over to Grey’s Anatomy following its finale. His casting was first announced on October 2, 2017, but ABC had been secretly working with Gianniotti for five months prior. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Gianniotti said he auditioned six times for various roles across both shows. The character has been described as charismatic and gregarious. He also shares several similarities with one of his predecessors, Alex Karev (Justin Chambers), including a strained relationship with their fathers and being estranged from their siblings. Kim Raver Portrays Dr. Teddy Altman
Kim Raver (born May 17, 1965) is an American actress. She is best known for her role as Dr. Teddy Altman on Grey’s Anatomy, where she was a series regular in 2006–2010, 2012–2013 and 2015. Since 2014 she has had a main role on ABC television drama series The Last Resort. His parents were missionaries in Africa, which is where he spent most of his childhood. When he was eight, they moved back to America so that he could attend an American high school. Harry Shum Jr. Portrays Dr. Benson “Blue” Kwan
Shum was born in Detroit, Michigan, to a Chinese father who emigrated from Hong Kong and a Caucasian mother of German descent. He graduated from St. Mary’s Preparatory High School in 2003. Shum attended New York University (NYU), where he studied acting with Dr. Robert Carnegie at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. After graduating from college, Shum worked as an investment banker on Wall Street before pursuing his dream of becoming an actor. His parents were supportive when he decided to pursue acting as a career, but they were also concerned about his decision because they knew how difficult it would be for him to succeed as an Asian American actor. Jules Millin is a surgical resident. She is passionate about neurosurgery, which may be surprising given that she was severely injured in an accident as a child that left her mother brain-dead and her father comatose. Jules’ quest for neurosurgery becomes even more important once she discovers that she can hear her mother’s voice only when operating on or near someone’s brain. She has a twin sister named Felicity who is married with three children and lives in London. Jules herself has never been married, but she had a long-term relationship with Dr. Alex Karev (Justin Chambers) while they were both attending Stanford University together. However, he broke up with her because he didn’t want to leave his family behind in Seattle while attending medical school there.
Midori Francis Portrays Dr. Mika Yasuda
Dr. Mika Yasuda (played by Midori Francis) is a surgical resident. She is married with two children, who are shown in photos on her desk at Seattle Grace Mercy West Hospital. Dr. Charlotte King has been mentoring her for some time, but it is not revealed when she started working there. Dr. Yasuda was born in Japan, raised in New York City, and attended medical school at Johns Hopkins University. Her husband’s name is Kenji; they have a daughter named Eriko and son named Keita.
