How many VR devices do I need?

Before diving into your learning, you’ll want to make sure you have all of your devices: a Chromebook or two, Cardboard viewers (or View-Master reels), and, if possible, a virtual-reality headset. You can download Google Expeditions VR on Android and iOS devices. It’s also available in Cardboard mode, so it works without a headset. To use it with other devices such as an Oculus Rift or HTC Vive, download it from Steam.

Am I able to take my own content into an Expedition?

Absolutely! The purpose of taking an Expedition is to help you learn more about what you’re looking at, so if it’s not something you can easily find in other ways, then why not use your own content? After all, using what interests and motivates a student is one of the best ways to keep them engaged. That being said, there are some guidelines on type and quality of content that will make it even better when used with Expeditions . We’ll get into those next.

How do I know if this works in my classroom?

In short, I don’t know. That’s because I have yet to see anyone use Google Expedition in their classroom. And, unfortunately for me, no one at my school is willing to give it a try. I can’t say how well Expedition will work until someone gives it a shot! But I do know that we are always looking for new and exciting ways to help our students learn and explore. So if you decide to take on Google Expeditions in your class, please let us know about your experience so we can learn from you!
