How did they cast him?
When deciding how to cast Arondir, director Peter Jackson wanted to be true to the book and keep it as a true Elven character. He drew inspiration from Val Kilmer’s role as Merlin in Excalibur as he felt that Kilmer would be perfect for the long, white-haired nature of the character. Originally he had looked at some other actors, but didn’t find any of them fitting the needed look for the film.

The Rings of Power are artifacts of immense power. Arondir is a powerful elven warrior who’s forbidden love for the human healer Bronwyn has led him to flee his elven homeland and take refuge in Rivendell. But when Sauron takes possession of the One Ring and enslaves the Nine forges that forged it, Arondir is sent on a mission by Lord Elrond to help restore peace in Middle-earth with the help of his true love and her fellow healers.
